Grand Rapids: A City in Change

Grand Rapids have seen significant change over the past 10-15 years and there are no plans for this to end any time soon. Avenue for the Arts and Dwelling Place have been instrumental in changing the face and perception of Downtown's South Division Corridor. Dwelling Place, along with many other organizations have plans in the works to continue to morph and beautify this ever growing city. Welcome, Second Dance

A warm Dwelling Place to our new Herkimer commercial tenant, Second Dance. Second Dance Formal Consignment is the first and only consignment shop in Grand Rapids that specializes in upscale formalwear, carrying bridal, bridesmaid, mother of, school dance dresses such as prom and homecoming, and formal accessories. Dresses are too stunning to be collecting dust in a closet, so their mission is to give dresses the second dance they deserve!

KNITit wins 5x5 Night Award

Congratulations to our newest commercial tenant, Liz Bartlett and her business, KNITit for her success at 5x5 night last month. Liz is a nationally recognized expert in 3D knit programming, and she won $5,000 from the 5x5 night to initiate the development of 3D knit products that do not yet exist.  KNITit is pursuing clients in the health care and automotive industries for immediate development and small volume custom manufacturing.

Dennis Sturtevant appointed to Interagency Council on Homelessness

Dwelling Place is pleased to announce the appointment of our CEO, Dennis Sturtevant, to Governor Rick Snyder’s Interagency Council on Homelessness. This new council was created as an advisory body within the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) to serve as a statewide planning and policy development resource for the Governor and the state of Michigan.

Dwelling Place Staff Summer Cookout

Dwelling Place staff celebrated summer this week with a cookout in our Ferguson Apartment building's rooftop patio and dining room space on the 6th floor. Thanks to all who planned, organized, shopped, cooked, and cleaned so our staff from all the various properties could spend time together. Special thanks to Molly Piecuch and Scott Page for all their hard work pulling it together!
