"One bedroom for every 2 people: Michigan changes housing voucher program so it can help more people"

LANSING — The Michigan State Housing Authority is changing the funding formula for its housing choice voucher program so it will only pay for one bedroom for every two people living in the household, a move that should save about $12 million annually once it's fully implemented.

The changes could mean some families may be forced to move to smaller apartments or spend more of their own money to stay in their homes.

It also means more families should be able to qualify for vouchers.
