KNITit wins 5x5 Night Award

Congratulations to our newest commercial tenant, Liz Bartlett and her business, KNITit for her success at 5x5 night last month. Liz is a nationally recognized expert in 3D knit programming, and she won $5,000 from the 5x5 night to initiate the development of 3D knit products that do not yet exist.  KNITit is pursuing clients in the health care and automotive industries for immediate development and small volume custom manufacturing.

Dennis Sturtevant appointed to Interagency Council on Homelessness

Dwelling Place is pleased to announce the appointment of our CEO, Dennis Sturtevant, to Governor Rick Snyder’s Interagency Council on Homelessness. This new council was created as an advisory body within the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) to serve as a statewide planning and policy development resource for the Governor and the state of Michigan.

Dwelling Place Staff Summer Cookout

Dwelling Place staff celebrated summer this week with a cookout in our Ferguson Apartment building's rooftop patio and dining room space on the 6th floor. Thanks to all who planned, organized, shopped, cooked, and cleaned so our staff from all the various properties could spend time together. Special thanks to Molly Piecuch and Scott Page for all their hard work pulling it together!

The Market returns to Avenue for the Arts

First Fridays is a monthly event occurring on the Avenue for the Arts along the South Division corridor in Downtown Grand Rapids. This summer, on June 5 and August 7, The Market joins First Friday for an evening to remember! Shops and galleries will be open late with a variety of artwork exhibits, while the sidewalks will be flooded with artist vendors, performances, and entertainment all along South Division between Fulton and Cherry. 

Artists take over 23 Dwelling Place locations during Art.Downtown. April 10th

Annually Dwelling Place supports a series of events aimed at activating the South Divison corridor inviting guests from around West Michigan to experience the businesses, nonprofits and live/work space along the Avenue for the Arts.  On Friday our largest annual event, Art.Downtown. will take place and thousands of visitors will experience 23 in five Dwelling Place properties. Dwelling Place commercial and live/work spaces account for 1/2 of the 50 participating locations.
