Neighborhood Revitalization

Neighborhood Revitalization

Dwelling Place's Neighborhood Revitalization Program infuses neglected neighborhoods with profitable businesses, transforms blighted areas with building fa├žade improvements and rehabilitation efforts, and creates a destination with interesting attractions and events.

What's New in Neighborhood Revitalization?

The Downtown Development Authority is seeking community input to shape future focus and investment in the Heartside, Center Cites, Hillside and Westside districts of Downtown Grand Rapids!

The Neighborhood Revitalization Department has attended several focus groups and the DDA's most recent community discussions to advocate for the issues that effect Heartside and Dwelling Place residents and commercial tenants!

Please take just a few moments to complete the 2010 DDAsurvey and show support for diverse housing and the development of healthy communities in Downtown Grand Rapids.

The Avenue for the Arts
At Dwelling Place we believe that healthy neighborhood are diverse, alive and include a mix of business and residential spaces. In 2003, Dwelling Place began an initiative to help grow both business and residential interests along the South Division Business Corridor in downtown Grand Rapids. This initiative focused on attracting and retaining creative individuals and featured the development of live/work housing for artists in our Martineau Apartments and later in Kelsey Apartments and Verne Barry Place. In addition, NRD Staff support the creative entrepreneurs that call South Division home by providing specialized classes & community conversations, acting as administrative support for the creation and execution of community based events and addressing the challenges associated with growing a diverse vibrant community.
