Advocate for Housing Choice
Across West Michigan, the need for more quality affordable housing is apparent, but the path towards meeting that need may not be. We believe that all people- regardless of their income, familial status, racial or ethnic background, or country of origin- should have a place to call home. Together we can turn advocacy into action and truly impact the communities we live in and love.
Affordable Housing Advocacy in Action (AHAA)
DEEP DIVE COHORT
A five-session cohort of 12-15 community members to dive into the state of affordable housing in West Michigan/Grand Rapids and the things we can do to effect change. We will discuss how to engage in dialogue with neighbors, family members, community leaders, and local and state lawmakers to advance policies and programs. You will leave this cohort with personal narratives and a group of passionate allies to work toward housing choice in your community.
In 2023 we will offer four cohort opportunities, use the button below to register for an upcoming cohort.

Current Events
July 2023 – City of Grand Rapids
The Grand Rapids City Commission is currently reviewing changes to city ordinances that would target our unhoused community members and their belongings. Dwelling Place does not support these ordinance changes and we have written the Grand Rapids City Commissioners to encourage them to VOTE NO on Tuesday, July 11th. We encourage housing advocates to write their city commission or make public comment to preserve rights and abilities for our neighbors.
