POSTPONED: Harrison Park Grand Opening

Posted by dwellingplacegr on February 26, 2020

In light of recommendations from the Governor Whitmer and the Kent County Health Department, we have decided to postpone this event until April or May. We regret this is necessary and we apologize for any inconvenience this may create for anyone but out of an abundance of caution, we believe this is a prudent decision to make.

On September 6, 2018 we celebrated the groundbreaking of Harrison Park Apartments by gathering together partners, investors, donors, collaborators, neighbors, and community members on a vacant dirt lot along Alpine Avenue. Today, when you drive by that once vacant lot you can see just how much has changed. We started moving families into the property in December 2019 and will continue to move families in over the next month. It is a wonderful experience to watch a construction zone transform into children running in the hallways and smells of bacon cooking in the morning. A pile of steel and concrete is now a home and place of respite for 48 families in our community!

On Friday, March 13, 2020 we invite you to see the transformation for yourself.   The celebration will kickoff at 11:00 am with a welcome and brief remarks followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony. After the ribbon cutting, guests are invited to tour the building where they can view community space, vacant apartments, townhomes, and commercial live/work spaces.

The event will take place at 1400 Alpine Avenue NE. Parking is available at Harrison Park Elementary School located just next to Harrison Park Apartments. Please refrain from parking in the Harrison Park Apartment parking lot as this is reserved for residents and staff of the building.
