Dwelling Place’s Mindful Money Program, which launched this summer, is a resident focused financial capabilities program featuring relationship building and empowerment. This program provides interactive online money management workshops and brings together residents for group and one-on-one coaching sessions with trained financial coaches to learn alongside one another. Dwelling Place empowers residents to achieve by designing and administering goal-oriented life skills programs. “Breaking Down Financial Barriers: Launching a Long-Awaited Financial Capabilities Program“, we breakdown the impact this program has on our residents and community overall.
2020 Mindful Money Cohort
Our first cohort of six residents graduated from Mindful Money in late November 2020. Through our Mindful Money program, residents gained access to dynamic online financial education, learned from a financial planner and coaching, and engaged with peers in group sessions.
2021 Mindful Money Goals
In 2021, we are seeking to quadruple the number of residents we engaged with by offering two cohort opportunities. You can support our residents on their paths to building future wealth and financial knowledge by doanting to Dwelling Place.
Our Mindful Money Team
Our volunteer Financial Coaches, Tammy Karas and Grace Thuo, have been doing a fantastic job leading our group and one-on-one coaching sessions. Residents and coaches meet twice monthly to share tips, tricks and encouragement with one another throughout their program journey.
Grace is an Accountant for Dwelling Place of Grand Rapids. She is passionate about financial wellness and believes this program is important because it goes beyond financial literacy, it is about applying the knowledge to change financial behavior.
Tammy is a Branch Officer at United Bank. She has worked in the financial industry for over 14 years and strives to pair her banking acumen with her passion for the arts to find creative financial solutions.
A special thank you to United Bank for sponsoring the first cohort of the Mindful Money Series. We would not have been able to provide this proramming without your financial contributions.
